CST is like counselling for the body; it feels held and heard so that it can therefore begin letting go. It is an approach where anatomy based therapy meets energy work. The therapist is tuning into the whole person and may receive a response from the nervous system, the body’s connective tissues, cerebral spinal fluid, emotional centres / chakras and the cranium and sacrum bones. CST is a very light-touch gentle hands-on therapy which taps into the body’s natural ability for self healing.
Imagine the gentlest touch from the therapist leading to a powerful response within the client; that is how some clients have described CST. The approach engages the whole (emotional, physical, mental and spiritual) of the client with the therapist through a calm grounded stance.
The therapist listens to the client’s body and empowers it to tell its story of illness, injury, trauma, stress and pain as well as happiness, love, memories etc. As the body tells its story it is able to begin to relax, release, find relief and transform.
CST works at very deep levels building the body’s immunity up as well as allowing for physical, emotional and soul level releases to occur, including that of deeply trapped trauma.
CST can involve contact with any part of the body and may incorporate fascia unwinding on various joints and viscera. CST is popular for supporting those affected by birth trauma and children with social, behavioural and learning needs. It can promote conception and healthy pregnancy for mother and child.
CST can especially help with the following: Long-standing health issues; pain; injuries, post illness and surgery; low immunity and inflammation; stress and emotional issues; birth trauma and babies; pregnancy; children; intra-oral issues; teeth grinding; TMJ; fascia and joint damage; throat issues; spinal, neck and head issues; sinusitis; face and ear issues; nervous system and hormone imbalance. In addition, CST often helps people find relief whilst undergoing serious medical intervention as well as adapting to life-changing circumstances.
During CST clients may feel a range of sensations within their body. Sometimes colours, dreamlike visions and inspiring thoughts occur along with forgotten memories and unlocked emotions. Clients may ‘zone out’ during the treatment and usually feel very relaxed, often way beyond the treatment day. The therapy has been found to promote relaxation, better sleep, clearer thinking, lifted mood and overall improved well-being.
During the first session, the therapist takes a case history, followed by treatment and short consultation. In subsequent sessions, there will be a longer treatment and short consultation before and after the treatment. Each session (including treatment and consultation) is up to 50 / 60-minutes. However, there is the option of longer 80 / 90-minutes and 110 / 120-minutes sessions.
